| Discussions of the Thai Forest tradition often focus on the style of the ajahns’ teachings— direct, down-to-earth, humorous—but rarely on their content. This course aims to redress this imbalance. Through talks, readings, discussions, and meditation, we will focus on the teachings of Phra Ajaan Mun Bhuridatto and two of his most articulate students, Phra Ajaan Lee Dhammadharo and Phra Ajaan Maha Boowa Ñanasampanno, with special attention to the stances they take on controversial issues surrounding the four noble dhammas: virtue, concentration, discernment, and release. |
